Silo, Apple TV’s adaptation of Hugh Howey’s stories, is jammed with mystery upon mystery—and apparently there are plenty more to come. The first season isn’t yet over, but the streamer has renewed the series for season two already.
Or, as Apple TV put it on Twitter:
We do not know who built the Silo.
We do know there will be a Season 2.— Apple TV (@AppleTV) June 14, 2023
Silo tells the story of the last ten thousand humans, living in a mile-deep underground structure full of cozy apartments, tiny rooms, dingy walls, sharp class divides, stringent rules, and hidden history. The world outside is deadly—maybe. Any questions about what’s out there, or about where the silo came from, are met with dire punishment. And don’t say you want to go outside, because sure enough, you will then go outside, and presumably die. Or not? In a dystopia, the rules are only wise until they’re not.
Graham Yost (Justified) created the show and serves as showrunner; it stars Dune’s Rebecca Ferguson as an engineer trying to solve the murder of someone close to her. She’s joined in the cast by David Oyelowo, Rashida Jones, Common, Harriet Walter, Chinaza Uche, Avi Nash, and Tim Robbins.
New episodes arrive on Fridays; this week’s is the eighth episode of the ten-episode first season. There’s no word on when season two will air, but presumably it’ll be a while, given the current writers’ strike.
